TEACHING PEACE WITH AL ANDERSON - Sep 08,2012

Recent history has amptly demonstrated that peace does not come naturally to most people. It is widely assumed that war is an inevitable consequence of conflict. Those of us who believe otherwise have the task of convincing others that peace is possible. That is why one of the most important things we can do to promote peace is to learn how to be at peace with ourselves and others. This enables us to more effectively persuade those with whom we may disagree that peace is possible if we believe that it is and work together to make it a reality. On Saturday September 8 our scheduled guest on SFPI Radio was Father Simon Harak, Director of Marquette Universitys Center for Peacemaking, a remarkable program working at the local and international level to promote dialogue toward achieving justice and peace in the world. The show did not come off as planned, so in the spirit of the original concept we spent two hours discussing the widely held concepts that lead the majority of people to accept the idea that it is not possible to end war. We focused on what we might do to free each other from this self-imposed restraints on our freedom to think and act and how this can lead to the Tectonic Paradigm Shift in human consciousness that will free our children from the threat of endless war. Please listen to and share this podcast so that others can benefit from the lessons we have learned from people like Father Simon. SFPI Radio is the international talk show designed to allow those struggling for social justice around the world to talk to each other about how we can support efforts to promote justice, democracy and peace in every nation.
