Forget James Bond, Martinus Johnson Senior is the Real Deal. He served over 25 years as a Foreign Service Diplomat for his home Country of Liberia. I am proud to call him a friend and cousin, and to present his book, Reflections of An African Diplomat, here on Anita Talks Genealogy. Ambassador Johnson will be our call in guest tonight. He was born March 24, 1929, in Edina, Grand Bassa County Liberia, West Africa. In 1990, after the execution of Samuel Doe, he and many others fled to the United States. He is retired now and living in Michigan with his second wife. He took the time to write this book which details his life in the Foreign Service and some close calls he experienced. He served under President Tubman and Dole, before being retired. He fled Liberia during the conflict which started in 1990. LIberia was one of the Countries on the list for, "Blood or Conflict Diamonds" it is mineral rich, and also has a rich history. The book covers the Middle East Conflict in which Martinus was sent to hot spots like Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, and other Hot Spots. He also served in Hong Kong and Germany during his career. It was in Iran where he met the first President George Bush Senior. The book covers his relationship with now Ex President Bush. Tune in and Listen Up!
