In Chapter 1, we discuss the NSA practice of reviewing phone records and the ramifications of leaking information on those classified programs. We talk to Michael Figura of the Bill of Rights Defense Committee. In Chapter 2, we talk immigration. The Immigration reform bill is hitting the senate floor tomorrow with many senate republicans coming out in support of the measures to give a pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented residents as well as increase in border security. While Republicans are concerned about future potential losses at the polls as a result of low Hispanic support, there is still plenty of dissention among the ranks about various aspects of the reform package. First, we talk to Seung Min Kim Congressional reporter for Politico who has been following the issue. Then we'll hear from David Horowitz, columnist for Roll Call who wrote a column on the challenges Republicans face in deciding whether to support the bill. We get an update on the IRS scandals. The Internal Revenue Service has been in front of one house committee or another 6 times now. Most recently was an investigation into overspending on conferences revealing the department had spent around 50 million dollars on activities for employees between 2010 and 2012 that included presidential suites, pricey speakers and other perks. In one telling example, the agency spent $50,000 to produce a star trek parody video. Meanwhile, new IRS commissioner Daniel Werfel is trying to get the house in order and seems to be getting a short honeymoon, but Republicans have said they expect changes soon.
